Once a year, all employees of Pacific Thrift Store, members of the store’s Board of Directors, representatives of the Mission Department, and the President of the Association gather together to rejoice in the celebration of Christmas, thank the Lord for the blessings of the past year, and share information about plans for the coming year. This year’s meeting took place on December 5 at the Second Slavic Church of Sacramento. Several dozen people gathered around beautifully decorated and set tables filled with wonderful, appetizing dishes and sweets.
But that was not the main thing. The main thing was fellowship with one another, with the staff of the Association, and the sharing of news. And the news was wonderful. Throughout the year, the store’s ministry, through the Mission Department, supported 18 missionaries in different countries, provided jobs for more than twenty people, and offered quality low-cost goods to many customers. Moreover, on this day the store’s management received the keys to a leased facility where a second store will be located. It is the former 99 Cents store building on Greenback in Citrus Heights—a very large space with excellent warehouse facilities.
“We see this as God’s blessing. A large sales floor, excellent warehouse space, and a good location. Of course, opening a second store on our part is a step of faith. But our goal is not profit, rather the support of missionaries and, through them, the spread of the Gospel throughout the world. Therefore, we are confident in God’s help and His blessing at this new location,” said everyone in agreement: store director Pavel Tsvirinko, Association President Alexander Pronin, and his deputy Vasily Stupin.
The new store needs an assistant manager, cashiers, sales floor and warehouse workers, a social media marketing specialist, and many volunteers. Donations of goods are also needed. But most importantly, intercessory prayers are needed for the success of this ministry.
